Some of your e-commerce questions

Can I host my website elsewhere if I choose to?
In order that we can guarantee security and critical updates to your e-commerce software, our e-commerce websites are only available to those who take advantage of our value added hosting services.

What is an SSL Security Certificate (or SSL Cert for short)?
An SSL certificate is a feature all online shops use to encrypt sensitive information such as passwords and credit card information. Our SSL Certificates are 128bit which means they utilise the very highest encryption levels (as used by the military and banks) to keep all of your customer's sensitive data safe and secure, ensuring that they are able to shop with confidence. Customers will be able to tell that you own your own SSL Cert by the padlock icon that usually appears at the bottom of the browser, or sometimes in the address bar, whenever an SSL web page is being used.

Will I be able to update and maintain my online shop myself?
Yes! We give you all the training necessary to operate your online shop successfully. You can add, edit, amend products and pages in just a few clicks with our easy to use built-in content management system. If you've used a word processor, you'll be a whiz in seconds (and if you haven't, it'll take you just a few minutes longer). Of course, you get 30 Days of FREE support should you need any help; and if you want to, you can extend your support. The choice is entirely yours!

Do I need a merchant account?
Not necessarily. In order to take credit card orders online you have a number of options open to you. First you can contact your bank and discuss opening an Internet Merchant Account which will allow you accept online transactions. You'll also need a Payment Service Provider or PSP in order that the credit card transactions can actually be processed. We can help you with sourcing both of these.

However, if you're just starting out you may want to consider a third party merchant account that will process your credit card payments and deposit the monies (minus their fees) directly into any bank account. Two leading examples are Paypal and WorldPay. Whatever you decide our e-commerce solution is able to work seamlessly with all methods of payment including off-line processing, cheques, and cash on delivery.

How much will it cost?
Our e-commerce solutions are tailored to each individual customer based on in-depth assessments of your requirements and any features you may need. If you would like a quote for your e-commerce project, please contact us.

Are there any ongoing fees?
There are some ongoning fees you need to be aware of. Hosting for an e-commerce website is structured slightly different from other projects we provide because we utilise mission-critical servers which use hardware firewalls to provide added security and other features. An absolute necessity when dealing with online transactions and sensitive customer data. An e-commerce enabled website also needs to make use of an SSL certificate to encrypt credit cards and other information.

Your internet merchant account provider and/or payment service provider may charge additional monthly fees and per transaction charges.
